There are sometimes those items in your wardrobe collecting dust and not very often seeing the light of day, subsequently forgotten about for far too long to remember. Yep-that is what exactly what happened to this denim jacket, a piece which was worn to death last summer yet has been pushed back into the black hole darkness of ones wardrobe-a place where many items have never been seen again. However after having a sudden spark of inspiration I decided to re-invent said jacket into a vest, to give a 2 minute update to a neglected piece of clothing. To be honest I was a tad reluctant at first, almost questioning my impulse actions. Despite this 'doubt' I can safely say the vest has become a staple in my latest 'layering obsession' and in fact I cannot wait to start collecting badges and unicorn inspired patches to cover it with-you can only imagine my excitement on what I have in store for such a piece!

It has been a while since I featured the ever-so futuristic space mac from Yumi Direct, a item which I decided to don for a 60s 'parisian' inspired outfit with obligatory beret in tow. There's something  about 60s parisian style that I recently have become obsessed with, from finding countless sources of inspiration through instagram of old photos of Jane Birkin and her effortless, almost boyish approach to dressing. To looking at images of my all time favourite style (and hair/make-up) icon Brigitte Bardot, everything from the black kohl lined eyes to her feminine dress-sense. I just can't help but channel them once in a while.
Let me know your current 'style crushes' below!

Pink Scuba

I can't deny that there is a lot of pink going on in todays outfit. I think I'm having a 'pink moment' as lately people are starting to know me as the girl who constantly wears pink (head-to-toe). What can I say it was Wednesday after all and we all know how that saying goes... Anyway I recently picked up this bargain scuba style skirt from the (ever-so-tempting) asos sale, as after watching some 90's film or another I had it in my head that I needed to own a pastel coloured/drop-waist skirt asap, to pair with my endless collection of roll-neck jumpers! One thing led to another-aka endless scrolling (and drooling) through their sale section and I came across this pink number for under £10.
As the weather has been extremely cold and windy, if only you saw the outtakes-uncontrollable hair situation, layering has become a 'must' so out came that faux fur gilet (closest thing to a duvet) and my standard roll neck jumper-I warned ya' that they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Additionally paired with my obligatory Hello Kitty backpack as I had have a somewhat practical piece-as I was at uni after all.

Look-Book: Isolated Heroes AW14

Todays post is a slightly different one, as today I'm showcasing a look book from a brand which I have been lusting over ever since coming across them on Instagram. Isolated Heroes are a Scottish brand founded by the talented designer Samantha McEwen in 2012 as a graduate project-how amazing is that?! In brief they are a unisex label that offers luxury designer pieces at an affordable price, designed for the tribe steering away from those (average) mainstream trends and promoting individuality through 'sassy sequins' and lashings of faux fur. To be honest it sounds like my type of 'dream-land'-in shop format.

I then went on to look at their AW14 look-book and boy it was love at first sigh-everything from the designs to the styling and photography was extremely inspiring. I instantly fell for their feminine, sassy, "grrl power" vibe with a slight futuristic influence-that I'm sure you know by now that I'm obsessed with.

If you haven't already I urge you have a look at their site (link!) and prepare yourself to drool over those 'sassy' looking items, that you wish your wardrobe was filled with.

Let me know if you would like to see more of these "look-book" style posts, as I am forever on the look out for independent brands that I'm lovin' at the moment.

This all-black combination with an added choice of waistcoat/denim vest has been a recent go-to of mine as for me there is no better way to shield the cold, than by layering a roll-neck with a crochet waistcoat. I like to think of it as 'Granny chic' at its best. Speaking of roll-necks... I feel as though this piece of clothing has become my 'uniform' as of late, in fact they've barely left 'my neck' over the past couple of months. There's something about its 'mod 60's vibe' I adore, but I also love how this once 'mod' looking item can be transitioned to have a more '70's feel' by adding a suede fringe skirt and a pair thigh-high boots. Sometimes there is nothing wrong with channeling your inner "mod/wild-west cowgirl" persona once in a while.

Holographic Unicorn Bag

This unicorn clutch bag has been one of those items which I have lusted over owning for far to long to count. So when *santa* dropped this into my stocking my love for anything holographic and unicorn themed grew even more. As a large majority of Christmas day was spent in a 'food-coma' (a tradition amongst the season) it only felt right that we donned our "acceptable" clothing (ahem..pyjama free) and took in the fresh air to awaken us, for the left-overs ahead. For the occasion I decide to pair my much-loved 'mermaid' dr. martens with that clutch, as by now I'm sure you're all well aware of my "growing" holographic obsession, so it only felt right to pair these two items together. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year!!
